Key things that are needed and why
- Being credentialed by a sponsoring agency such as your local Fire Department, Police, Parks Department or any other Nationally Recognized response agency (American Red Cross …etc).
- Being credentialed and having a background check on file with the credentialing agency in a perquisite for many events.
- ICS – Ability to understand and participate in and Incident Command System organization
- NIMS – Understanding of core mission and methodology of FEMA
(ICS and NIMS knowledge is required across the board for all basic emergency responders These two certifications plus any emergency response training makes you deploy-able.)
